Seeking to boost business tourism in Chile with first national meeting


For the first time in Chile, the National Meeting of Tourism Mice (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions) will be held, aiming at positioning the tourism of meetings, incentives, congresses and fairs in our country.

This meeting organized by the Undersecretariat of Tourism and Sernatur will be held on Tuesday, October 17 at the Cineteca of the Cultural Center Palacio La Moneda and representatives of the public sector and businessmen associated with the segment will participate in order to highlight the importance of this type of tourism, its value and performance.

The focus of the meeting will focus on regional destinations and incentives. That is why this meeting will have the participation of international exhibitors who will refer to the trends of the industry of meetings and incentives the requirements of the client and its legacy, in addition to referring to the characteristics that should have the international congresses.

In addition, the authority added that this sector "generates more expenditure income and average stay of tourists, generates employment and benefits local economies, reduces seasonality and promotes recreational tourism by promoting tourist destinations to those attending these international meetings and promote innovation by attracting expert meetings from around the world. "

Meanwhile, Sernatur national director Marcela Cabezas explained that "the great diversity of destinations and activities that can be developed in Chile, the high levels of trust and security, together with the excellent infrastructure and connectivity, make our country a ideal destination for meeting tourism ".

Promotion worldwide

Meanwhile, from this year until 2019 will be held in Chile the most important Meetings Tourism Fair in Latin America, Fiexpo, a very important showcase for the promotion of this activity and it is expected that the impact of its realization will be for the following years, taking into account that the window of reservations of congresses and conventions is over a year.

With the completion of this instance, it is expected that by 2020 our country will advance at least eight positions from the 36th to the 28th places worldwide, in the world ranking of Congresses and Conventions of the International Congress an Convention Association (Icca), while it is expected that Santiago advance from 34 to 28.

In fact, it is noteworthy that the capital received this year the award as "Best Destination of Business Tourism 2017" South America according to the prestigious Business Destinations magazine.
