- The Mexican Business Council (CMN) announced an investment of $ 31.430 billion (MDD) in 2017, a figure lower than last year but confirming its commitment despite a tense bilateral relationship with the United States.
"This year we will employ a total of 1.37 million people in Mexico and close to two million globally," said CMN head Alejandro RamÃrez at a session of the entity in which the President of Mexico, Enrique Peña Nieto .
That figure, which according to the Council will allow the creation of 30 thousand new jobs of quality, represents a reduction of 6.18% compared to 33.5 billion dollars of investment last year.
According to the president of the CMN, which groups an elite of 50 companies of great relevance to Mexico as Cinépolis, Bimbo or Televisa, this year is decisive because the United States, Mexico's main trading partner, seeks to "rethink its relationship with Mexico and whole world".
Also, he added, in the coming months will be defined the candidates for the Presidency of Mexico for 2018, so he urged that the structural reforms promoted by Peña Nieto come very soon.
Before the renegotiation of the NAFTA, he thanked the negotiations carried out from the Executive, and explained that they are working with commercial partners from the United States and Canada so that the updating of the agreement is "expeditious and brings clear benefits."

The arrival of foreign tourists and the acquisition of foreign currency in Mexico reached historic figures in the first quarter of 2017 with 9.3 million visitors and five billion dollars, said Tourism Undersecretary Gerardo Corona.
