The internet of things, the future of business


Kevin Ashton creator of the term internet of things and entrepreneur Scott Amyx, during the third edition of the TigoUne Forum in which various actors of the technology industry participated.

The British Kevin Ashton engineered the term of The Internet of Things or in English, the internet of things, in the year 1999 after his search for solutions to the conflicts originated by the lack of information of data. Since then, this concept has been developed in most intelligent devices submerged in digital interconnectivity.

That technological convergence involves the human being in all aspects of daily life and manifests itself through an ever-widening variety of technological mechanisms that offer benefits but also involve risks.

In the TigoUne Fórum experts concluded that by 2022, 50% of businesses will depend on the Internet of Things (IoT). And in the case of Colombia, local markets have the possibility to rely on the creative industries for greater social and economic development.

Duncan Wardle, former vice president of creativity and innovation at Walt Disney, who was another of the speakers at the forum, mentioned that one of the steps for traditional industries to achieve success is to leave aside the focus on money, opting for devote more time to consumers to understand and meet their needs. "We are still human, so we still want human interaction," he said.
